In 2002, California Department
of Food and Agriculture Secretary William Lyons visited The
Farm Day Experience. Secretary Lyons joined 2500 third grade
students and personally experienced their introduction
to the wonderful world of agriculture. He was amazed at the
variety and quality of the presentations, as well as the enthusiasm
and interest of the students, educators and volunteers. Secretary
Lyons left The Farm Day Experience as a strong supporter of
the program, recognizing its potential and the need to replicate
its success in other areas. This was the beginning of The
Farm Day Impression, an on-line assistance program
for other organizations and groups to develop their own Farm
Day Experience.
Through The Farm Day Impression, the information, materials,
and time lines used by Monterey County Agricultural Education,
Inc. and The Farm Day Experience are available. In addition,
an email support system is ready to answer individual and
specific questions.
